Aerial Function Centre, University of Technology Sydney (UTS)
The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at UTS is the home of the Creativity & Cognition Studios, a research centre directed by Ernest Edmonds. The Creativity and Cognition Studios are an internationally recognised multi-disciplinary environment for the advancement and understanding of practice in digital media and the arts. It provides nationally and internationally recognised artists and technologists with a space in which to collaborate, experiment and create, as equal partners, in practice-based research.
At the top of the UTS Faculty of Engineering & IT Building is the Aerial Function Centre. The Centre is brand new and purpose designed to host conferences of this nature.
The Bon Marche theatre is a on-site theatre at UTS that has the advantage of being reconfigurable to various purposes, and being well-equipped for audiovisual material. In the past it has been used for concerts of acoustic and electronic music, film screenings and interactive audio-visual installations. It features a large projection screen and high quality projector, an 8.2 channel audio system, and full lighting facilities. This venue gives us flexibility to host high quality demos and installations during the conference in addition to the flagship music event, which would be likely to be held off-campus at a public music venue.
Offsite Social Function Venues
It is planned to host two flagship events during the conference, a musical concert and an exhibition. For these events, Sydney offers an exciting and unique range of specialty venues including theatres, art galleries, museums and performing arts and cultural institutions.
